Summer Arts in Santa Fe - Etching with aluminum plates and copper sulfate with Alan May August 1-3, 2011
Etching aluminum with copper sulfate is a safer, easier and cheaper alternative to traditional copper and zinc etching in acid. It even aquatints itself! Students will learn to prepare the etching bath, ground their plates with acrylic floor polish, transfer a drawing to the plate and scribe their design through the ground. Aquatinting methods will be demonstrated and practiced– no rosin, no spraying, no nothing!
Greener Etching – ASF 340 01/CRN 10646 – $275 course fee, supply fee $50, payable at the first class. No refunds after July 17.
