Silver Jewelry Using Metal Clay with Iliana Carrillo / July 30, 2011

Silver metal clay is an exciting material consisting of silver particles in a nontoxic binder and water. It looks, feels and acts like clay. When heated, the binder and water burn away to leave 99-percent pure silver. Students will practice firing with a small butane torch, an easy process that takes just minutes. Experienced artists will find this material fascinating, but no previous experience is needed. Leave class with finished jewelry. You’ll learn the basics in one day, and be able to begin on your own.

Iliana Carrillo is a senior Art Clay instructor certified by Art Clay World USA and a certified artisan through the Precious Metal Clay National Guild.
