Creative Tourism is an emerging idea whose time has come. Support for this argument was made by several of the keynote speakers at the International Conference on Creative Tourism, as briefly highlighted below:
Geoffrey Godbey, Professor Emeritus at Pennsylvania State University, in his presentation entitled, “Ahead of the Curve, New Trends in Tourism, Leisure, and Creative Time,” referenced three reasons that Creative Tourism may prosper:
“The rise of the creative class, the emergence of the experience economy and changes in the status of women.”
He further observed that, “The act of tourism for such travelers is always a moving toward something, rather than away from something. They seek the beautiful, the unique, and the authentic.”
