Design Santa Fe 2011 – Design Dialogue & Luncheon/Home & Garden Tour
Tickets for Design Santa Fe’s Dialogue & Luncheon and the Home & Garden Tour are now available to purchase online at www.designsantafe.org. A ticket to either event includes a free, one-year subscription to Su Casa magazine. The theme of Design Santa Fe 2011 is Change Makers, addressing the role of architecture and design in effecting positive social change.
The Dialogue & Luncheon features a panel discussion of the ways that architects and designers are pioneering practical solutions to problems like environmental degradation, climate change, and social injustice while remaining true to aesthetic imperatives. Speakers include Cameron Sinclair, cofounder of Architecture for Humanity, and Susan Lyons, a noted textile designer specializing in sustainable technologies and materials. The moderator is Susan Szenasy, editor-in-chief of Metropolis magazine and a leader in showcasing trends, developments, and achievements in sustainable design.
The Dialogue & Luncheon takes place on Friday, September 30, at the Farmers Market Building in the Railyard. Registration and a reception are held from 9 to 9:30 a.m., with the panel discussion held from 9:30 to 12:00 noon followed by a catered luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. A Continuing Education credit (.2 CEUs) has been approved by the New Mexico Interior Design Board, with certificates available after the program for those who have preregistered to receive them. Tickets are $85, and include admission to the Home & Garden Tour.
The Home & Garden Tour is a self-guided tour of custom home interiors and exteriors created by noted local designers. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at the first stop on the tour. A downloadable map is available online as well: www.designsantafe.org.
