Pysanky Class with Artist For Hire

This picture of a painted goose egg is the culmination of many years of my working with Pysanky-the ancient Eastern European art that goes back 4,000 years. In this painting, the egg, a symbol of life since the beginning of time, has renderings of daffodils, a flower seen in this country and in Europe. The white flowers symbolize lace, a form of art that “ties together” such countries as England, Poland, France, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands, as well as much of Europe. Lace was often used to revitalize sagging economies in those regions. The lace is particularly interesting to me because it reflects what flora is seen in daily interactions with the earth.

The creation of this egg took about a year in planning and about 40 hours of working directly on the egg. If you are interested in seeing the egg in person, or you would like a Pysanky class, call me at 505-795-8137. Website is www.nmartistsforhire.com. And “Seize the Moment with Art!”
