Crispin Raymond has a 25 year background in the arts, first as chief executive of the Theater Royal in Bath, England, and subsequently as the founder and leader of a consulting firm specializing in policy, management, building, and funding issues for charitable and arts organizations. Raymond and Greg Richards coined the term Creative Tourism, and launched Creative Tourism New Zealand in 2003. www.creativetourism.co.nz.
As my daughter discovered, creative experiences are available in many countries if you have the time to seek them out. Names matter, however, and with its own name, this form of tourism has begun to be more widely appreciated and is becoming better established. This new tourism child now had a name that people remember easily and whose underlying concept is quickly understood and appreciated. The Santa Fe conference has been a significant step along the road towards the recognition and understanding of Creative Tourism.
