Maria Lorraine Vigil, well known for her hand carved cedar and pine crosses will be showing her work at the St. Francis Hotel in Santa Fe on December 27th and 28th from 9 AM until 4 PM. Each piece that Maria Lorraine creates is inspired with continuous prayer for the person that will be owning her work. Maria will also be demonstrating her techniques used in carving her crosses.

Maria has shown her work at the Museum of International Folk Art, New Mexico State Fair, Contemporary Hispanic Market, Espanola Arts and Crafts Festival, Chimayo Festival or Arts Studio Tour, El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, Women’s Millennium Show in Chihuahua, Mexico, Fiesta de Los Artes, Arizona State Museum, Rancho de las Golondrinas, and other art shows throughout the state.

Maria has received awards from the Contemporary Hispanic Market, Espanola Arts and Crafts Festival and the New Mexico State Fair. Maria Lorraine was the first person to receive an Associate of Applied Science in Spanish Colonial Furniture Making from Northern New Mexico Community College. She attributes the love of her work to her Grandfather, Apolonio Martinez who was a Master Santero at Spanish Market.
