Utilizing Robin’s fast and easy method of working with MX fiber reactive dyes and the microwave for heat setting, participants will learn how to prepare yarns for painting and how to prepare/mix the dyes for use to hand paint skeins of yarn, roving, and/or a wound warp. Participants will learn how common household chemicals are used to prepare all fibers (except polyester) to accept and retain the desired colors. Participants will take away knowledge of how to hand paint their own yarn, roving and warps for any future dye project. Instructor will provide the dyes and other tools needed for this class. Participants may bring their own undyed skeins of yarn, roving or warp for the class, or they can purchase undyed skeins of yarn and roving from the instructor. Participants can also purchase dye kits with all the necessary chemicals and dyes to take home.
