Santa Fe Clay / Winter/Spring 2012 Weekend Workshops / CERAMIC MOLDS for SLUMPING GLASS with SHEL NEYMARK / May 19 & 20, 2012

Clay is an excellent medium from which to make molds for slumping glass. Once made and fired, these molds can be used indefinitely. During this workshop, students will get a brief overview of the fusing and slumping process. Shel will demonstrate and discuss making handbuilt and wheel thrown molds, making negatives from positives, and making molds from existing objects. Students will design and make their own mold along with a glass piece to slump into their mold. All levels of experience welcome.

A resident of Northern New Mexico since 1976, Shel Neymark has been a full time professional artist since graduating with a BFA in ceramics from Washington University in St. Louis in 1974. He began working in kiln fired glass in 2003 to make sconces for a house he was building, and it is now a significant part of his studio work.
