Geology in Georgia O’Keeffe Country / April 13th, 2012 (1day)

This one-day course will explore the geologic history of the area around Abiquiu, including rock formations and vistas that inspired Georgia O’Keeffe. Field stops and lectures will discuss the history of the Colorado Plateau, Jemez Mountains and the Rio Grande Rift. Students will gain insight into the changing shape of the landscape in northern New Mexico, as persistent geologic and erosional forces have sculpted the land over geologic time.
