The children will be inspired to connect deeply with the creative force of nature from yoga practice and walks in the forest. We will explore painting, drawing and ceramics, finding beauty within
and without. The circle of connection in all. Just 17 Miles up I25 t Exit 307

Details about TAC’s Kids Summer Camp…

The Tarnoff Art Center’s summer camp is situated on 10 acres of pine and juniper at the base of the Rowe Mesa. This pristine land gives an ideal place for a nature based camp. The goal of our teaching is to re-establish the children within the rhythm and order of the natural world and to discover the interconnectedness of all.

We begin the day at camp with yoga to bring the children’s awareness into their bodies. Yoga postures bring a centered calmness to the day.

After a morning snack, the campers move into the land to “the heart of the bear camp”. This is an area on the property where the children have built a Native American camp. Shelters, prayer wheels, earth sculptures, miniature adobe homes and other art pieces made from earth, stone and plants. Inspiration for “the heart of the bear” comes from Native American story and myth.

The campers move back inside to the painting studio for lunch and a mid day rest. Early afternoon is devoted to individual hands on art projects. Children learn the art skills of painting, drawing, sculpture (in the clay studio), sewing, knitting and more.

Late afternoon is a time of creative co-operative play; games that engender connectedness rather than competition.

We end the day with group clean-up of the art studios and closing circle. The campers share their favorite part of the day. We end the day with spoken gratitude.
