In this dynamic workshop, you will explore the vivid terrain of White Sands National Monument in southern New Mexico with award-winning master photographer Craig Varjabedian. This is a traditional photography workshop with both field and classroom components, three days photographing at White Sands and then back to Santa Fe for a day in the classroom. You will experience the allure of rolling sand dunes in the stark beauty of a unique landscape. The harsh dichotomy of earth and sky makes this place a unique New Mexico treasure, and we will discover it in secret hideaways and forgotten vistas.
The location of this workshop offers unique challenges. In this part of the state the unusual high-low contrast makes for an attenuated beauty. The intrepid photographer will be rewarded with indelible images of dream-like scenes and lost eras in an atmosphere of adventure, exploration, and discovery.
Craig will provide hands-on one-on-one guidance in the field as you need help with composition, light, histograms or equipment. And then a constructive image-sharing session along with a discussion of digital printing back in Santa Fe. Whether you are pointing your camera at a magnificent sand dune or capturing the dynamic weather, you’ll have many opportunities to make great photographs.
