Portal to Non-Adhesive Bindings / July 14th, 2012
This class is for anyone who is afraid of glue or shudders when using PVA. We will make 3 bindings that don’t use PVA at all. Starting with a double pamphlet stitch, we’ll move on to a multiple-sectioned buttonhole stitch. This exposed spine sewing forms a linear pattern at the head and tail. The resulting visual effect is almost like a window looking into the center of the spine. We will finish off with a variation of a long stitch book which includes two chain stitches across the spine, a very pretty binding. All three have soft covers and lay flat when opened.
Mita Saldaña is a bookbinder in Tijeras.
