Discovering Abstraction: painting, drawing, sculpture, collage and more! Through exploration and experimentation of various techniques and art materials, artists develop their unique creative expression. Elements and principles of design and art history will be integrated into choice-based stations and collaborative art making.
About Shakti: Hans Hofmann once said, “When I paint, I improvise…I deny theory and method and rely only on empathy and feeling…In teaching, it is just the opposite, I must account for every line, shape and color. One is forced to explain the inexplicable.” As an educator and graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Kroopkin tackles this dichotomy with delight. She has taught art in the Chicago Public Schools, the Santa Fe Art Institute and currently with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum and three public elementary schools. She is an abstract oil
painter, teacher, birth doula, and live painting performer. Her latest work can be seen showing with the Santa Fe Society of Artists near the historic downtown plaza. www.shaktikroopkin.com
