Studio Arts: Painting & Drawing / Beginners to Advanced with Laura Tarnoff / September 17-21, 2012

Drawing and painting are the foundation skills of making art. This workshop will provide a range of experiences in the basic mediums of charcoal, pencil, chalk pastels, oil pastels and acrylic paint, for for students of all levels.

Learn a variety of approaches to drawing and painting as a way to practice and expand your skills. Work primarily from demonstrations, observation and exercises to learn techniques such as shading, value, light, contour and cross-hatching, as well as the basics of shape, color, and composition. This workshop is designed to help you build confidence and work toward developing your own style. There will also be demonstrations to cover materials, painting approaches, color mixing, and color theory, as well as providing inspiration for individual expression. Beginners: learn the basics through introductory assignments. Intermediate and advanced students: develop your own style and themes in a supportive studio atmosphere.
