Dawn To Dusk Abstract Seascapes

There is a haunting quality to the sea at sunrise and sunset. In this 3-day Dawn To Dusk Abstract Seascapes intensive workshop we’ll explore the expressive possibilities of abstract seascapes at dawn and dusk while learning the layering and “mixing” capabilities of banana, mango and mulberry tree fiber paper. We’ll practice a variety of under-painting techniques and mapping strategies and learn the benefits of a limited palette. Other topics include triangulated compositions, lessons from the masters, gestural use of media and more. Artists create 3 or more paintings a day and learn valuable critiquing skills for furthering their own work. Artists bring their own lunch, canvas and painting media.

I learned so much at this workshop. I enjoyed using a new medium (paper) to develop a painting with texture/color-very free and Mickey is a supportive fun teacher. This workshop would be great for artists at all levels. -Katie P.
