Digital Filmmaking- Produce a unique memorable vacation or marketing video

LEARN THE SECRETS & SHORTCUTS OF FILM EDITING NAVIGATE WITH EASE THROUGH THE DIGITAL VIDEO PROGRAMS

An extensive two-day workshop exploring digital filmmaking processes designed for the novice & experienced. On completion of the workshop you will have a short film of your own to take home or put on YouTube!! Each person will explore their own creative visions while solving artistic and technical problems.

The Workshop will cover the following:

First day:

Import the raw footage of the video into the timeline to edit
Explore the interface of the timeline
Invent a theme/concept by means of a storyboard
Create clips from the raw footage

Second day:

Experience how to edit clips
Discover the usage of transitions and filters
Generate a sound track
Export and transfer the video onto a DVD or YouTube.

Students need to bring a computer with video editing software program such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, FCPro Express, iMovie, Windows Live Movie Maker.

In today’s world, your business simply must have a presence on the web. Learn about free and low-cost ways to start a blog, the differences between blogs and static websites, and how to use both for online marketing.

Artists, artisans, and craftsmen who offer workshops and classes for the public within Santa Fe county are invited to sign up for a free consultation on Internet marketing. Consultations on creating websites and blogs as well as using social networks and other Internet marketing strategies are being offered free to small arts-related businesses interested in finding workshop customers through www.SantaFeCreativeTourism.org. Consultation appointments are available Tuesdays 10 am to 5pm starting March 26, 2013, at the Community Gallery. The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission is continuing to work with artists and arts businesses to further develop the organization and promotion of workshops that allow visitors to experience Santa Fe in a hands-on fashion. Partnerships and collaborations with the hospitality industry and other entities are welcomed, such as artist residencies and shared promotional opportunities. This initiative was created as a result of the city of Santa Fe’s 2005 appointment to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and builds upon the successful 2008 International Conference on Creative Tourism held in Santa Fe.

Chris Nierman operates High-Res Solutions, where he provides Santa Fe locals and small businesses with personalized technology support. His background includes certified instruction in the public school system. He is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist and works with both Mac and PC machines, tablets, smartphones, and more.

5-Day Expressive Painting

Santa Fe is helping everyone help find their inner artist this spring by experiencing, first hand, what makes Santa Fe, New Mexico a nationally recognized center of creativity. Abundant visual arts fill the city with galleries, outdoor art and museums while Santa Fe’s adobe architecture, unique multi-cultural traditions and stunning scenery can’t help but inspire. DIY: A Creative Tourism Journey gives visitors the chance to spend all or part of a vacation taking workshops from experienced artists and artisans during the month of March. The workshops are offered at great prices with partner hotels providing discounted rates to participants.

Stoneware Ceramics

It’s time to fulfill a dream, refine a skill, or do something completely different. No previous training is involved making this March the ideal time to set that untapped artistic talent free. There are plenty of experiences to choose from. For example, Sharon Candelario will teach a day of traditional tinwork at her family’s café, shop, and gallery in the charming village of Chimayo. Or, the truly adventurous can opt for a day in the heat, making glass beads at Donna Nova Designs. Photographer Craig Varjabedian will take shutterbugs on a four -day photographic exploration of the northern New Mexico people, landscape, and architecture he has been photographing for thirty years. Artist Julie Claire believes that painting on a bold, large scale connects students to their innermost joy and freedom, even if they haven’t held a paintbrush since second grade.

Individual Intuitive Painting Sessions

There’s much more—Japanese paper making, intricate egg decorating in Southwestern motifs, spinning wool, bead making, silk painting, abstract painting, and print making are among the possibilities. DIY Santa Fe is perfect for groups of friends, multi-generational families and couples. The workshops are fun and the planning is completely flexible. Visitors book the hotel, inn or bed and breakfast of their choice for as long as they want, and book one or more workshops directly with the artists.

DIY: A Creative Tourism Journey is a project of Santa Fe Creative Tourism, which offers over 250 creative experiences throughout the year. In 2005, Santa Fe was named to the Creative Cities Network by UNESCO. It was the first American city to be honored. Santa Fe and its sister cities around the world strive to give visitors an experience from the heart of their artistic and cultural communities.

Santa Fe, NM: Adobe Lightroom is an incredibly powerful tool for photographers of all levels. In this two-and-a-half day intensive you learn the ins-and-outs of proper Lightroom workflow to help you strengthen and streamline your photographic output.

Will begins by explaining how Lightroom handles files, then takes us through importing and organizing image files from our cameras and hard drives. Lightroom’s powerful organizational tools make it possible to sort through thousands of images with ease, and a principal goal of this workshop is to teach you how to navigate this program’s essential element. Using Lightroom’s system of Collections, Keywords, Flags, Stars, and Color Labels, you gain a solid understanding of how to simply manage photographs stored on your home computers.

From organization we move onto Lightroom’s powerful developing tools. Using the Develop module, we make adjustments ranging from correcting exposure to creating vignetting, in order to enhance the quality of our images. Will also demonstrates how to synchronize Develop settings across groups of images in order to streamline your workflow. We wrap up by learning how to export images for print or web viewing.

After a quick review of the skills that were covered, you’re equipped to get the most out of your digital images using Adobe Lightroom at home.
