In this transformative workshop visionary artist Lisa de St. Croix will provide a safe and sacred space to paint from the deep inner wisdom that resides within you. Using guided meditation and classic shamanic technique of the heartbeat drum, Lisa will lead you into a trance journey where your spirit guides and totem animals reside.

We will learn about mixing colors with the eye, iridescence, which and how colors “vibrate” against each other, how light and dark affect the “look” of colors. This will be a lot of experimenting and learning how to create the colors one wishes. No previous experience necessary.

Learn from one of the best egg painters in the country how to use those symbols to decorate a unique, Southwestern egg. With beeswax and candles, you will paint an egg using pysanky, a process that is 4,000 years old. In addition to having beautiful artwork you made, you will be educated about all the symbols you see in Santa Fe.

How can tree-fiber paper serve as paint? Explore the world of abstract self portraits while learning the layering and “mixing” capabilities of banana, mango and mulberry tree fiber paper. Participants make their own small painting. No previous experience needed.

Learn to photograph what you feel, rather than what you see. Santa Fe is one of the oldest cities in the United States. You can almost feel and hear sounds and feelings of days gone by. The light in Santa Fe is pure and direct. The colors are rich and saturated. The atmosphere is pristine, clear and dry.

This workshop will teach participants how to prepare and spin raw wool into warm, delightful and beautiful skeins of yarn, ready to knit or weave. History of hand spinning and use of different fibers will be discussed. Emphasis will be on the history and use of Navajo-Churro wool, which was brought here by Don Juan de Onate in 1598.

2 hour private class in traditional and folkloric Middle Eastern Belly Dance for all levels, beginner through professional, by master teacher Joan Kafri.In addition to teaching in Santa Fe since 1980, Joan has taught and performed throughout Europe, and in Israel, Tunisia, and Turkey.

Participants will learn how common household chemicals are used to prepare all fibers (except polyester) to accept and retain the desired colors. Participants will take away knowledge of how to hand paint their own yarn, roving and warps for any future dye project.
