ALLAN HOUSER SCULPTURE GARDEN TOURS

Just a short 45-minute drive from Santa Fe, off the historic Turquoise Trail (Hwy 14), the Allan Houser Sculpture Gardens offer you the opportunity to experience the monumental works of an American Master in the place where most of his works were inspired and created. Learn about the bronze and patina process of the sculptures, as well as the history of the Chiricahua Apaches, Allan’s prolific works of art and biography. A short film will also be part of the tour. The 11-acre Sculpture Garden, Gallery, Gift Shop, and Allan’s historical Studio House feature over 200 of Houser’s most famous bronze, steel, and stone sculptures set amidst an eternal landscape of juniper pines, the Ortiz Mountains, and spectacular New Mexico skies. Also included are many paintings and drawings from 1937 –1994.  You may never have the opportunity to see this many Houser sculptures, paintings, and drawings, in one place, so come out and visit sometime! It is truly a memorable experience.

Guided tours of the Sculpture Gardens are scheduled throughout the year. Weather factors do affect tour availability. Tours are by appointment only and we are closed weekends.

A $25 + tax per person fee is requested. The tours include a biographical summary of Allan’s career and discussions of specific works on display. Guests are requested to allocate a minimum of 2 – 3 hours to view the Compound. Advance arrangements may be made for handicapped individuals.

Museums, educational groups, and other qualified groups are accommodated at discount pricing.  Food services and catering are available on a contract basis.

The Compound also hosts institutional and corporate retreats, weddings, and private parties. The facilities are contracted at a daily rate.

We also have our annual Indian Market Open House. August 20th and 21st from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Free tours of Allan Houser’s newly opened historical Studio House, Sculpture Gardens, Archives, Visitors Center, Gallery & Gift Shop will be available. Other prominent artists will be viewing their works also.
