This one day, 5 hour workshop, will teach the following:
• How to make your own paper
• Learn 7 techniques for creating images
• Use recycled paper and plants
• Make your own papermaking screens
The images I use come from rock art paintings and pecking, called pictographs and petroglyphs, made by native people all over the world. While no one can decipher the exact meaning of these images, it is commonly believed they were used for shamanic rituals involving healing, hunting, fertility, and protection.
People ask me if my work is original. In my mind, the original is somewhere on a cave wall, or in a tapestry. My art is a replication, honoring and revitalizing the spirit and message of the originals. While certain inspired images may recur in my work, each finished piece is an original, guided by an intuitive process that I follow during construction.
