Woodcarving & Retablo Painting – Patricio J Chavez

My Name is Patricio Chavez. I am 34 years old and have lived in Chimayo, New Mexico all my life. I have a deep closeness to El Santuario de Chimayo. I am a direct descendent of Francisco Chavez. He was the caretaker and landowner around the Santuario. My family has lived in Chimayo for five generations. Part of my family traditions of Religion and the Chicano culture  is Art. Spanish Colonial Art forms; Oils, Metals and Bronze are some of my repertoire. I have expertise in wood sculpture and painting in many mediums. I’ve studied portrait painting in college with Master Painter Richard Guzman. I am influenced by my Culture, Traditions and my life experiences. I have many pieces of Art around the globe in private collections and in Museums. My paintings are visionary in nature. They are molded by my encounters in life and my dreams. I Woodcarving & Retablouse my traditional and contemporary art sense in all my works, which is authentic in every way. I have won many awards for my showmanship and skills. It is a great desire of mine to teach any willing person my craft. I am a creator of spectacular art here in Chimayo, NM.

When: Wednesdays & Thursdays

Time: 10am to 12:30pm or 2pm to 4:30 pm.

Cost: $35 a sesion for 2.5 hours or $100 for 4 sessions
