For Children, The Sensorial Experience of Art with Linda Storm

With the professional guidance of Montessori teacher, gallery owner and artist Linda Storm, Children aged 6 to 9 will experience different mediums in art through their senses. They will touch, listen, hear, see, and even taste different art forms. They will tour select Canyon Road galleries for inspiration, and create their own art on paper, canvas, rocks and other media in Linda’s Gallery, Last gallery on the Right. Classes are for 2 and 1/2 hours on Saturdays, all materials provided.

Surface Treatments Workshop
Tired of flat surfaces and want to add depth to your art. Take your art to a new level. In addition to learning 10 techniques with technique variations and layering find out about isolation coats and what they can do for you.

Alternative Surfaces Workshop
If you want to go beyond the canvas, this is the workshop for you. Love the transparency of glass or Plexiglas? The glow of a metal surface? Then learn to paint, stamp, stencil and layered image transfers on Plexiglas, metal, clayboard, mica and wood.

Discover the art of papermaking.Encourage your childlike creativity and wonder to emerge during a day-long workshop for artists and creators. Wabi-sabi, the quintessential Japanese aesthetic, the beauty of things modest and humble, will be the thread that weaves through our creative process. The day will begin with an art-talk and demonstration. Learn how to process kozo, the bark of the paper mulberry and make beautiful sheets of washi to take home at the end of the day.

Create a collage using images gathered in and around Santa Fe and using ephemera collected from Santa Fe to provide a tactile and visual remembrance of your time spent in Santa Fe. This workshop will awaken the creative person inside you and prove that you can make art without great abilities in painting and drawing. You will learn some important principles in making art: color, design and composition. You will learn to look at the everyday object and experience day with a new and heightened awareness of its artistic potential. The beauty and light of Santa Fe has attracted artists for ages. Santa Fe, with world-class galleries and museums, is a Mecca for contemporary artists. Paula Roland is renowned for her encaustic works and workshops which have attracted artists from four continents and all across the US. Santa Fe galleries and land are a great resource for Paula’s innovative encaustic (beeswax and pigment) classes for all levels of learners.

I select materials and processes which, through the use of heat, gravity, chemical action and chance, are somewhat unpredictable. My studio becomes a stage for improvisational actions and reactions. Mixed Media Collage Workshops with Sandra Duran Wilson

Mixed Media Collage is the art of incorporating paint, pastel, drawing, textures and found materials by gluing and layering onto canvas or paper. You will also learn transfer techniques using your own photographs or found imagery. We work with color and composition to assist you in the creative process. Capture and translate your Santa Fe experience visually.

Mixed Media Collage workshops are designed to meet all levels of experience; from curious creative amateurs to professional artists. You can explore your own imagination and learn how to put your ideas onto paper or canvas using collage, painting and transfers. Creating your own Oracle Deck – Lisa de St. Croix

Using guided meditation we will access our inner wisdom, spirit guides and plant and animal allies to create the beginning of a set of divination cards. We will use a variety of materials such as collage, paint, rubber stamps and text on cardstock. The deck may continue to grow after the workshop as dreams, symbols and images that have meaning come to you.

The duration of workshops may vary from one and a half hours to three hours. Lisa’s charming studio is a few blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza, she is also available to teach at your facility or on location.

Lisa de St. Croix is an artist living in Santa Fe. Lisa was born and grew up in South Africa. After moving to New York, she received her BFA at the School of Visual Arts. Lisa’s paintings have been exhibited nationally as well as internationally in France, Mexico and South Africa. Her work is in several collections and many of her paintings hang in public spaces. As well as painting in oils Lisa works in visual journals recording in multi media different aspects of her life. Creator of the Oracle Deck and The Natural Wisdom Deck, Lisa is currently creating the Tarot de St. Croix. She has been teaching workshops in New Mexico for the past ten years.

Travel and Nature Visual Journaling with Lisa de St. Croix

Visual journaling combines both art making and the written word. Travel Journals record the ambience and personal experiences of the places you visit in an explosion of color and rich textures using found imagery such as maps, postcards and brochures as well as painting and writing.
