Our paperweight-making class is a good place to start learning the basics of glass blowing. This 4-5 hour class is typically one-on-one instruction, but on request, we will take couples. This is a hands-on class and students will make 4-6 pieces, which are theirs to keep. After the pieces have annealed overnight, the student comes back to do cold work (grinding). Working in a Hot Shop is a unique and rare experience. Come and have fun with us. We play with lava!

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANIZATION:
Jeffrey J. Schmitt (Smitty) is a third generation artist and has been involved in the glass arts since 1979. He is self-taught, does commissioned pieces and displays work in galleries and shows throughout the Southwest. Smitty has taught hundreds of students over the years. His passion is glass. He also works in the areas of glass fusing, slumping and casting.
