Flameworking Glass Class with Holly Goldstein

The glass used is borosilicate, commonly known as Pyrex, familiar in cookware and chemistry equipment. Using no molds and few tools, rods and tubes of clear and color glass are shaped in the flame and then annealed in a kiln. Some of the items made in class could include jewelry, light catcher ornaments, vessels and sculptural pieces. This work is on a relatively small scale.

Glass Paperweight Workshop with Elodie Holmes

“Art Experience” for up to six people an hour where you select the colors, inside design, use of murrini and sit with the artist in a hot shop. After a demonstration, you will hold the punte (pipe), apply the frit (color), warm the weight several times, cut the hot glass and twist it around with artisan tools. You can select one to five colors for your paperweight and once the final layer of hot glass is applied, you will use the cherry blocks to shape the weight.

Glass Bead Making with Donna Nova Designs

Study in the “Soho of Santa Fe” where several glass workers have banded together so that visitors may visit the studios all in a short period of time. Those who want to learn glass bead making will learn to make glass beads in the style of the grand Italian bead makers! During the four hour individualized class students will learn the basics of glass bead making, learning many techniques, and focusing on the application of glass frit. Each student will complete many glass beads!
