Transformational Healing through the Creative Process
Amina Re offers a safe space for transformational healing through the creative process for individuals, couples and groups. In her studio you are invited to participate in a meditative and process-oriented approach to painting. No experience in painting or drawing is necessary. For individuals, these one-on-one sessions encourage you to access your deepest knowing and vision for your life. For couples, it is a journey into intimacy and innovative communication. In a group you will be energized and inspired within the field of others.
With thirteen years of an active body-centered, creative therapy practice, Amina serves as a gentle guide in deepening your connection with all parts of yourself and Spirit. Her philosophy is to follow the health, while having spaciousness for the illumination of shadows. You can view Amina’s personal artistic practice on her web site at www.aminare.com.

“An unimagined creativity blossoms in every space within the heart from which pain has been released.” ~ from The Way of Forgiveness, by D. Patrick Miller
Allow the dynamics of the group to energize, inspire, support and enable you in going deeper into your own process.
We all have parts of ourselves that are hidden, shy or unconscious. These parts can try and get our attention in ways that disrupt our lives, either through physical disease or emotional and psychological stress.
When we take the time and space to listen deeply to ourselves, to these “lost” parts, we can begin a process of integration, wholeness and greater sense of health.
The creative process is a direct route to self-knowledge and integration. When this is supported by a skillful practitioner, in a safe, contained space with others, one can access deeper states of awareness and joy than is possible alone.
No prior experience in painting or drawing is necessary. This is about the process only, not the outcome. The process is yours; it is your relationship to yourself. There will be no critiquing of anyone’s work.
In this workshop we will create that safe space together and bring our individual strengths as resources for the group. Meditation and intention setting will be part of the process. A separate space for personal meditation, journaling and movement will be available for those times when you wish to be quiet or alone.
As a facilitator I will support you in cultivating internal and external resources, such as:
- Staying deeply connected to your own process and your body.
- Using the breath to calm and invigorate.
- Connecting to spirit through a meditative state.
- Using movement to free up energy.
- Journaling as a way to process information.
- Utilizing the strength of the group to support your process.
- Allowing music to enhance states of awareness.
- Spontaneous laughter as an essential element for healing.
- Encouraging you to take care of your body by eating nourishing foods and taking breaks.
Group Workshops are from 10:00am-5pm. Healthy and yummy vegetarian lunch is provided. Cost of workshop is $215 and includes materials.
“Listen to yourself and in that quietude you may hear the voice of God.” ~ Maya Angelou
Individuals who want to connect more deeply to their intuitive self, who may have questions about their life and upcoming choices will benefit from this active meditation process. Through the process of painting you will enter a dialogue with many different aspects of your unconscious self. The process will become your oracle. There is no need for outside advice. The answers are within. Amina will help facilitate your journey, by providing a safe container, which will allow you to travel more deeply than if you were alone.
Transformational Healing and Creativity sessions occur in two-hour increments. Each session includes: intention setting, accessing a meditative state, some coaching and instructions regarding art materials, and gentle and spacious processing.
One two-hour session is $200. Materials included.
This is an excellent opportunity for couples to explore a deeper connection with one another, to broaden their conversation and possibly dip into uncharted territory in a safe environment. It may be an opportunity to get to know one another better in a unique and celebratory way. It may also be a way to reveal patterns in the relationship that haven’t been illuminated yet. You will set the intention for what you want to get out of the experience, and are supported in letting go of that intention.
One two-hour session is $250. This includes all materials.
SPECIAL FOR COUPLES ABOUT TO GET MARRIED
Create a painting together that will celebrate your connection and crystalize your intentions for your life together. Again, no experience with painting is necessary. Amina will coach you with the materials in a non-invasive and supportive way.
Your painting will be created with archival materials so it will last the duration of your life together and beyond. You can use the image you create for wedding invitations or thank you cards.
One three-hour session is $395.
“Marriage is our last, best chance to grow up.” ~ Joseph Barth
Amina Re has been studying the human form and psyche for the last thirty years, both in her paintings and in her healing practice. She has a BS in Psychology and Art; Massage Therapy license, Credentials in Cranial Sacral Therapy and Integrative Breathwork, with a concentration in Trauma Resolution. She co-founded a free and democratic school in Maryland, called Fairhaven, when her son was young. Currently Amina paints daily, practices aerial arts and is an avid contact improvisational dancer.
Amina’s interest in the arts started at a young age. She bought her first sewing machine when she was ten and made half of her clothes by the time she was sixteen. In college she discovered drawing and photography. At twenty-two years she opened her own art gallery, abandoned it a year later and traveled. At twenty-five she gave birth to her son and an hour later had an eclamptic seizure and a near death experience. She was then flooded with imagery and a compulsion to paint them all. Her technical skills were limited, so she spent many hours meditating and connecting with the great masters, such as Dali and Michelangelo, asking for guidance. She learned to paint very quickly and has used the creative process to integrate and heal her history of sexual abuse, physical traumas, the collective unconscious that regularly presents itself in her dreams and the daily living of this human experience.
